Now I'm Not Saying The End Of Civilisation Is A Good Thing, But..

I stand to be corrected on the following statistics for last weekend in London.
  • Domestic burglaries. Down
  • Gang killings and random killings of young people. Zero.
  • Alcohol related admissions to A&E. Down.
  • Traffic related admissions to A&E. Down
Whether more people were injured than at the average weekend, we'll have to wait and see.
Vast amounts of property was destroyed, and literally millions of decent people have been terrorised. But many people live in abject fear a lot of the time, especially young people. The mass media make a living from it. And the economy runs on the fear of the descent into the very same abyss the rioters have emerged from. So the cold nett price was mostly material, and most of the outrage consequently hypocritical. Just like the hysteria over the student riots last December, this is really about stuff, not people. Which is the same social ethic which fuels the looting in the first place.

Cameron's response is the same old mantra of Personal Responsibility, which as a complete abandonment of responsibility by the government. Not least by the fact that there has still been no formal declaration of a riot, which would force the insurance companies to cough up. So much for the myth of the tories as the friend of the small businessman.
Strangely, the rioters were taking responsibility, and fulfilling a very clear personal identity created by a powerful set of role models. Just as David Cameron wants. They are living the only dream they have been programmed with. Their default identity one of consumption and the power it brings, unhindered by red-tape state interference. Just like the Rupert Murdoch epistled by Cameron until quite recently.
The knee-jerk reaction is prison and lots of it. And no holiday camps. Holiday camps like Wandsworth, perhaps? Which, according to a report published today runs a 'demeaning and abusive regime'. Another myth bites the dust, along with the myth of pernicious immigration. Another excuse for the reasons for this chaos exploded.

The other knee-jerk reaction has been from the neo-fascist EDL (not just Kelvin McKenzie) who are desperate to be the Saviours of the Small Businessman and said so yesterday. Cameron is giving them this role on a plate. But by coming out in this way they are showing their true face. There are far more white English kids rioting than the alien Muslims . The EDL are backing themselves into a racist corner. Whether Cameron will join them there, we'll have to wait and see. If they became the stormtroops of his 'Große Gesellschaft' we would live in times that were perhaps a touch too interesting.

Carpetbagger Cameron

Cameron arrives in Egypt to pontificate on democracy. With a pack of arms dealers in the shadows.
His worry is that, left to their own devices, the Egyptian people will not only reject autocratic rule by a solitary fall-guy, but also reject autocratic rule by the gaggle of corporate crackpots who create and protect dictators in the first place.
I think the memories of the Egyptian people are longer than he realises, and their sacrifices much deeper and creative than he can ever understand.
Our involvement with dictators is extremely embarrassing. Even more so after Cameron's shameless carpetbagging trip yesterday. 'Building blocks of democracy' my arse. Slipping an early bung under the table more like. 'You scratch my back, know what I mean?'
To Cameron, the basis of democracy is money, and plenty of it. The fact that money was also the basis of the dictatorship the Egyptian people have just overthrown seems to have escaped Cameron's Eton-brain. And makes him look ridiculous to all intelligent opinion, and brings Britain into disrepute. The Heroes of Tahrir Square must be gasping in disbelief and amusement at the sight of this appalling snurge lecturing them on freedom and its responsibilities.

Cameron's opportunism is truly shameless. Especially during the trials the Libyan people are now facing. But as one expat said last night:
'We all have families in Tripoli. And of course we don't want them to be hurt. But we would be proud if they were.'
How can any crackpot with scrambled egg on his hat think he can defeat such a spirit?
The choice for all newly empowered people is clear. Either to be led by the likes of David Cameron and Haliburton and BP into the same chaos Britain the rest of the Consumerist Paradise finds itself, or discover a new way, their way, based on mutal respect, co-operation and humanity. And no more warmongering billionaire dictators.
Meanwhile, the entire reactionary sect from Downing Street to the Tea Party has been the resolute enemy of the revolution. It has repeatedly tried to dampen the struggle for freedom by raising the constant spectre of global Jihad, which is dead. And by spewing the usual lies about the inevitable consequences of 'Mob Rule'.
They know that the new political consciousness is a threat to their natural deference to authority, and they hate it. They won't be protesting outside Downing Street this afternoon in support of Libyan martyrs because they believe that protest never works and always ends in violence, chaos and anarchy. There is no such thing as progress, and all humans are just brute beasts divided into hunter and hunted.
The revolution is proving all these superstitions wrong. And reactionaries everywhere are crapping themselves just as much as the Oil-Sheiks on their golden toilets.

Mosquito Mental Swamp

Police Minister Nick Herbert wrote in a Commons reply on Monday that this was not an issue on which ministers should intervene, and it was for local authorities dealing with anti-social behaviour to decide whether or not to use the Mosquito.
Or leave it to the good ol' boys, in other words.
Leaving aside the brutal redneck stupidity of the Cameron government in endorsing these spiteful litte machines, there is a wider issue to address, which is the mental contortions required to maintain the current British level of Paedophobia.
It is amazing how the meaning of 'anti-social' is dependent on the age of the subject, rather than their actual behaviour. This is truly an example of our disregard for language and basic 'cause and effect'. For the rational world as we know it. A person is not judged by their deeds but their age. And the term 'anti-social' has now almost come to mean 'young'. Say the word to most people,  and the image they will see in their head will be of a teenager.
Create a taboo or bogeyman or monster of any kind, and primitive superstition automatically kicks in. This is fine in books and other entertainments, but when it becomes an everyday means of dealing with reality by inverting it, we are in serious trouble.
Is there any legal obligation to reveal where these Hate-Screamers are located, as with speed cameras? Jeremy Clarkson would know what to do with them. Then they wouldn't need to be banned.

Cameron Says Love B.P. Or Else.

Britain's head corporate poodle David Cameron says: 'Say nice things about BP and Railtrack for their trail of destruction or the pensioners sleep with the fishes.' Nice to see he's found his vocation as a gangster's Heavy so readily. 'You've got a nice pension plan here. Shame if it was to get all devalued. Never take sides against the family.'
It's important that the image of The Organisation stays clean. If Union Carbide rubs out a town it isn't very good for public relations. And business suffers, and that means someone has to pay. Namely us. Whatever crimes business commits, we mustn't complain and we must always pay the price. In fact, we must adore the monster all the more. Unquestioning worship is the only solution to the inscrutible workings of the market. The Market Works in Mysterious Ways its Wonders to Perform, and it is not the place of miserable creatures like us to question its works, it knows best.
Fuck BP. Fuck Cameron. Fuck Pensions. Fuck Business.
